Private Coaching
In addition to our October and January 6-week terms of after-school and weekend skills classes, YAS offers year-round private coaching for young performers and adults alike that want to begin their performing studies or deepen their existing skills in a private, supportive environment. ANTHONY MARTINEZ (YAS Education Director, Voice and Singing instructor)
Anthony Martinez is a Sonoma County-based professional actor, singer, and musician. Anthony has been with YAS since 2017 and during that time has served as Music Director and/or Director on 19 Young Actors Studio productions, including Disney's The Descendants, Willy Wonka, Jr., Moana Jr., The Princess Bride, Alice@Wonderland, and Finding Nemo Jr.. Anthony trained as an actor and singer with some of the finest teachers and studios in the country, and has appeared on film, onstage, and in commercials for over 25 years. A member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, in addition to his work with the Young Actors Studio program Anthony also maintains a private voice and acting studio, providing individual attention to young performers in a supportive, one-on-one environment.
JESS HEADINGTON (Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Acting instructor )
Jess Headington (she/her) teaches Advanced Acting for grades 6-12. Her approach is actor-centered and respectful of each student’s own lived experiences. She combines technique and passion for the craft of storytelling to guide students toward their own discoveries. Jess has a BFA in Theatre Arts from Stephens College and has been working as an actor, director, and teaching artist in Sonoma County since 2010. During her undergraduate years, she served as Artistic Director & Dramaturge of the student-run Warehouse Theatre Company. She spent a year with the Vienna Theatre Project in Vienna, Austria working as an actor & directing apprentice. Jess taught scene study classes for tweens, teens, and adults at the 6th Street Playhouse School of Drama from 2014 to 2019. Her most onstage appearances include Dancing Lessons at Cinnabar Theater, Barbecue Apocalypse at Spreckels Theater Company, and the one-woman holiday comedy The Twelve Dates of Christmas at 6th Street Playhouse. Her recent film The Deep End won Best Comedy at the 2021 Hollyshorts Film Festival.
JULIANNE BRADBURY (Musical Theatre instructor)
Julianne Bradbury has studied singing since an early age with a number of wonderful teachers, including Evelyn McFadden, Jody Benecke, and Tina Lloyd Meals. She has performed in more than a dozen local community theater productions over the past decade, from Kiss Me Kate to The Marvelous Wonderettes to The Rocky Horror Show (SFBACC Award for Principal Actress). Julianne has served as a youth production assistant director and class instructor at the 6th Street Studio, and now teaches littles and their parents how to play with music as an instructor in the Santa Rosa Area Music Together program (https://www.santarosamusictogether.com/).
MARK BRADBURY (Acting instructor)
Mark Bradbury has studied acting and performing since his youth. He was a notoriously shy child and learned, through theater, how to combat the thing that most people fear most: Public Speaking. He is eager to share his experiences and methods with you! Mark has performed in over thirty productions in Sonoma County, including many shows featuring youth cast members such as Bye Bye Birdie, Beauty and the Beast, Seussical the Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and A Christmas Story.
RYAN BOBBETT (Acting, Musical Theatre instructor)
Ryan Bobbett is a musician, actor, and teacher from Las Vegas, NV. He has a master's degree in music education with an emphasis on vocal performance, and is fully licensed to teach
K-12 music in the school district. Ryan teaches voice, guitar, piano, songwriting, digital audio recording, and acting. With over 20 years of theatre experience, including over 40 full-length
productions, Ryan's knowledge of performing arts is comprehensive. His two main musical passions are musical theatre and being a singer/songwriter.
LULU THOMPSON (Acting Grades K-5 instructor)
Lulu Thompson is a director, actor & musician who has taught theatre classes in the north bay for over five years - to all ages, from kindergarteners to college students. In addition to after-school classes & summer camps, she is also a recurring guest teacher in Santa Rosa High School's ArtQuest theatre program.Informed by music & contemporary dance, Lulu focuses on helping students develop physicality, group movement & an ensemble-based creative process. As a devised-theatre artist, she facilitates classes in the creation of new plays - allowing each student to share their unique creative voice, while developing listening skills & group awareness.
